Well another Monday and still no respite in sight. You have spent your whole weekend, glued in front of the idiot box which now seems to be your Bodhi tree of enlightenment. You keep jumping back and forth, from one business channel to another, fervently hoping for a little silver lining, some ounce of optimism somewhere, like Marius in search of Cosette. You find your whole little world caving in front of you, reports of days to come when its blessed to have food on table, so on and so forth. You think of all the long hours at work, the tough deadlines to battle and the warrior in you resurfacing yet again. This is no time for tottering in sky high stilettos watching your every step, but for some rugged practical boots like the one pictured above, to wade you through fall and the tough times ahead...

Fall 2008 Ready-To-Wear - Roberto Cavalli

Roberto Cavalli's fall collection could have been mistaken for a spring collection if one hadn't bothered to look beyond the fit and flare embroidered dresses. There was an occasional display of asymmetrical sweaters, Cavallian typical prints in psychedelic colors, animal printed fur, trimmed on floral dresses and huge bright roses either printed or sequined adorning skirts and dresses. If one could excuse the inappropriateness of the collection for fall, then one has before oneself a neat array of girlie dresses in very subdued pleasant colors. The booties are noteworthy for their clever use of sequins, florals and embroidery. On the whole Cavalli is adorable as long as he doesn't vamp on us!!!

Fall 2008 Ready-To-Wear - John Galliano
John Galliano's cocoon of surrealism is oft so contagious that it never does fail to touch you in the most unexpected way.He is one of the few designers who makes a movie out of a fashion show. There is the historical background, compelling sets, princesses in fantastical clothes, making you believe that you have hitched a pleasant ride into the past. This fall I'm so taken in my his wonderful choice of colors ranging from bright orange to rich burgundy.Add to that the grand headgear in the form of overblown hats and flowerpots, an array of big flowery jewellery and gold studded shoes and you have captured the essence of Galliano's ingeniousness all at one go.
